Dan Conyers, CPO
National Clinical Director
Dan Conyers, certified prosthetist and orthotist, is the Northwest Regional Specialist for Advanced Arm Dynamics. He has over 19 years of experience in prosthetics and orthotics specializing the past ten years in upper-extremity prosthetics. He is ABC certified in orthotics and prosthetics and a member of the American Academy of Orthotics and Prosthetics (AAOP) and AAOP Upper-extremity Society.
Mr. Conyers resides in Portland, Oregon, where he manages the care of upper-extremity patients in the Northwest. Over the past several years, he has worked with practitioners and their patients in their local prosthetic offices on behalf of Advanced Arm Dynamics. In addition to these consultation services, he has provided prosthetic services and rehabilitation to patients at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., working with amputees of all levels.
Shawn Swanson, OTR/L
National Director of Occupational Therapy Services
Shawn Swanson, OTR/L is the National Director of Occupational Therapy Services for Advanced Arm Dynamics. Ms. Swanson’s focus will be enhancing training protocols for patients in the use of upper extremity prosthetics as part of AAD’s comprehensive treatment approach.
With over ten years of prosthetic therapy experience, Ms. Swanson was previously with Otto Bock Health Care in the Professional and Clinical Services Department as a clinical specialist in upper extremity prosthetics. She was also employed with The Institute for Rehabilitation and Research (TIRR) in Houston, TX, specializing in traumatic neurological rehabilitation.
Her experience includes clinical experiences as well as teaching introductory and advanced courses in upper extremity prosthetic rehabilitation, working with the rehabilitation teams at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and Brooke Army Medical Center, presenting at local, national and international conferences, and facilitating collaborative efforts between prosthetists and therapists to improve functional outcomes for their patients.
Kristi Wolfgram
National Patient Coordinator
Kristi Wolfgram is the National Patient Coordinator at Advanced Arm Dynamics. She serves as a liaison between the patients, reimbursement agencies and Advanced Arm Dynamics' upper-extremity prosthetic specialists to ensure that each patient's goals and concerns are carefully addressed.
Ms. Wolfgram, who has a congenital below the elbow deficiency, offers patients and their families empathy and guidance for an independent future. Born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, she received her first prosthesis at six months of age. Since then, body-powered and electrically-powered prostheses have helped her enjoy an extraordinarily accomplished and active life.
Ms. Wolfgram earned a degree in broadcasting from Northwest Missouri State University where she was a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority and the university’s nationally ranked dance team, The Steppers. She then joined the dance team for The Racers, Omaha's professional basketball team and later joined the dance team for The Omaha Beef, Omaha's national indoor football league. Ms. Wolfgram also teaches dance lessons in tap, jazz, ballet, pom pom and hip hop at a local dance school. As an adolescent, Ms. Wolfgram enjoyed swimming, ice-skating, gymnastics, softball and horseback riding. As an adult she continues activities in dance and water-skiing.
Misty Carver
National Director of Business Development
Misty Carver is the National Director of Business Development for Advanced Arm Dynamics Inc. overseeing the regional business development managers at the various AAD Centers of Excellence. Her experience as the Southwest Center of Excellence Business Development Manager for more than four years enables her to lead a team of professionals throughout the AAD organization as they build critical relationships within the upper extremity prosthetic community. She brings with her close to fifteen years of experience within the prosthetic industry acting as the liaison between Advanced Arm Dynamics and all referral sources, including physicians and their staff, case managers, therapists, hospitals and clinics.
Through education and work experience Ms. Carver gained a comprehensive understanding of managed care plans, HMOs, PPOs, worker’s compensation and government funded payment sources. Her knowledge and understanding of the industry accelerate the referral and payment processes, allowing patients to concentrate on their rehabilitation, not funding and payment issues.
Ms. Carver educates the medical community and patients on the continuing advancements in prosthetics by coordinating upper-extremity prosthetic seminars for physicians, case managers, therapists and patients.
Ms. Carver is involved in many charities and is on the Board of Directors for the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Charity in Fort Worth, Texas.
Creighton Uyechi, CPA
Controller
Creighton Uyechi is the Controller for Advanced Arm Dynamics. His responsibilities include managing the corporate office in California and overseeing the accounting and administrative functions. Although new to the prosthetic industry, he appreciates the valuable service the company provides to its patients. His goal is to provide solid back office support so that the company’s clinicians and facilities can focus on high quality patient care.
Born and raised in the Los Angeles area, Mr. Uyechi graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a Bachelors of Science in Accounting. After spending five years in public accounting and receiving his CPA license, he transitioned into private industry in a controller capacity. His industry background includes real estate, private equity investments, import/export, and retail.
Rebecca J. DeLeón
Technical Coordinator
Rebecca DeLeón started her career in prosthetics in 1981 at Orthomedics Inc., now Hanger. With a total of 17 years of experience in the prosthetics industry, nine of which are specific to upper-extremity prosthetics, Ms. DeLeón oversees the training of prosthetic technicians, as well as provides quality control and technical support to the prosthetists. In addition, she provides additional support and services for Advanced Arm Dynamics’ work at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
She has completed the Otto Bock Myo course twice in her career, each time receiving certification.
Carrie Johnson
Senior Justifications and Authorizations Coordinator
Carrie Johnson joins Advanced Arm Dynamics as the Senior Justifications and Authorizations Coordinator. Her responsibilities include overseeing the letter creation process and authorizations efforts between Advanced Arm Dynamics and insurance companies for all of Advanced Arm Dynamics’s Centers of Excellence. Prior to working with Advanced Arm Dynamics, Johnson worked as the Administrative Manager for the Upper Extremity Prosthetics Program for Hanger Prosthetics & Orthotics in Anaheim, California for close to ten years. Her responsibilities included acting as the internal liaison and coordinator between Hanger internal employees and patients to ensure all parties understood the authorization process. She also managed the Inner Wheel Funding Program, a charitable organization for children in need of myoelectric prosthetic arms.
Ana Castillo
Justifications and Authorizations Coordinator
Ana Castillo is the Justifications and Authorizations Coordinator at Advanced Arm Dynamics. She is the contact between the reimbursement agencies and Advanced Arm Dynamics’ team members throughout the authorization process. A vital and often stressful part of each patient’s prosthetic rehabilitation is receiving authorizations from insurance agencies or other sources to aide in reimbursement for prosthetic care; Ms. Castillo facilitates this process to expedite and simplify authorization as much as possible. She has over 16 years of experience in the health insurance industry as well as prosthetics and orthotics. This experience enables her to successfully negotiate the justification and medical necessity for prosthetic rehabilitation and receive authorizations from pertinent parties (reimbursement agencies), allowing patients to concentrate on their prosthetic care and rehabilitation, not funding and payment issues.
Ms. Castillo received her Bachelor of Arts from California State University in Long Beach and later attended courses in business administration from the University of Phoenix. Prior to joining the Advanced Arm Dynamics team, she was employed with Hanger/NovaCare, Aetna and CIGNA gaining experience and knowledge about medical claims, medical terminology and the inner workings of utilization review from the viewpoint of health insurance agencies.
Michelle Miguelez
Justifications Coordinator
Michelle Miguelez is the Justifications Coordinator for Advanced Arm Dynamics, providing insurance and other reimbursement agencies with the information needed to obtain maximum authorization for prosthetic care. Her goal is to support AAD’s clinical team as well as physicians and patients in effectively communicating the medical and functional necessity of recommended services for successful rehabilitation.
Ms. Miguelez has been involved with Advanced Arm Dynamics since the company’s founding in 1998, contributing to articles published in the Journal of Prosthetics and Orthotics, a chapter in the Atlas of Orthotics and Prosthetics and the launch of AAD’s initial website. She is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley and Loyola Law School (Los Angeles, California).
