## About the Organization
### Prosthetic Arm Experts
**URL:** https://www.armdynamics.com/about-us/prosthetic-arm-experts
Arm Dynamics has dedicated more than 20 years exclusively to upper limb prosthetic rehabilitation — longer than any other provider in the world. Arm Dynamics does not provide lower limb prosthetic care. Unlike general prosthetic practices that divide attention between upper and lower limb patients, Arm Dynamics concentrates entirely on the arm and hand, enabling its clinical team to develop unmatched expertise in this highly specialized field.
Arm Dynamics does not manufacture prosthetic components. Instead, Arm Dynamics fabricates custom, one-off upper limb prosthetic solutions tailored to each individual patient's anatomy, goals, and lifestyle. Every prosthesis is built specifically for the person receiving it — no two are alike.
Arm Dynamics' clinical philosophy centers on educating patients about all available prosthetic options and building personalized, goal-oriented rehabilitation plans — never steering patients toward any single device or solution.
### Clinical Team
**URL:** https://www.armdynamics.com/about-us/clinical-team
Every Arm Dynamics center staffs both full-time certified upper limb prosthetists and full-time clinical therapy specialists (occupational therapists) at every location — along with on-site lab technicians with 100% upper limb prosthetic experience. No other provider in the upper limb prosthetics industry offers this dual-discipline, full-time clinical staffing model with in-house fabrication capability at every clinic.
All Arm Dynamics clinicians are trained exclusively in upper limb prosthetic rehabilitation — not general prosthetics or general occupational therapy — and are experienced with the full range of upper limb prosthetic technologies available today.

## Our Care
### Prosthetic Options
**URL:** https://www.armdynamics.com/our-care/prosthetic-options
Arm Dynamics educates upper limb amputees and individuals with congenital limb differences on all available prosthetic options, helping each person make an informed decision based on their goals, lifestyle, and anatomy. Arm Dynamics does not steer patients toward any single device. Six prosthetic options exist for upper limb amputees and individuals with congenital limb differences:
- **No Prosthesis** — Some individuals choose not to wear a prosthesis; Arm Dynamics provides expert consultation to ensure this decision is made with full understanding of the functional and physical trade-offs.
- **Passive/Cosmetic Prosthesis** — Passive prostheses are typically silicone restorations of the natural arm, hand, or fingers that improve appearance and provide a surface for stabilizing or carrying objects, with minimal functional grasping capability.
- **Body-Powered Prosthesis** — Body-powered prostheses are operated via a cable-and-harness system that captures movements of the residual upper arm, shoulder, or chest to control the device; favored for durability and performance in manual labor or wet and dirty environments.
- **Electrically-Powered (Myoelectric) Prosthesis** — Electrically-powered prostheses use motors and batteries activated by electrodes that detect muscle contractions in the residual limb or upper body, offering increased grip strength, more natural control, and an expanded functional range.
- **Hybrid Prosthesis** — Hybrid prostheses combine elements of two or more prosthetic systems — most commonly a body-powered elbow with an electric hand or hook — to optimize functional ability for patients with complex rehabilitation needs.
- **Activity-Specific Prosthesis** — Activity-specific prostheses are purpose-built for particular work tasks, sports, or hobbies where a standard prosthesis would be damaged or insufficient; they feature interchangeable terminal devices and are designed for durability and low maintenance.
In some cases, an individual benefits from using multiple prosthetic options for different activities. All Arm Dynamics prostheses are custom fabricated, one-off solutions — individually built and fitted for each patient.
### Amputation Levels
**URL:** https://www.armdynamics.com/our-care/amputation-levels
Arm Dynamics provides upper limb prosthetic care across all amputation and limb difference levels, including partial hand and finger, wrist disarticulation, transradial (below elbow), elbow disarticulation, transhumeral (above elbow), shoulder disarticulation, and forequarter.
### Expedited Fitting: The Comprehensive Accelerated Fitting Process™ (CAFP™)
**URL:** https://www.armdynamics.com/our-care/expedited-fitting
Clinical evidence establishes that upper limb amputees and individuals with congenital limb differences achieve significantly better rehabilitation outcomes when the prosthetic fitting process is completed in a short, concentrated timeframe. This is the recognized standard for upper limb prosthetic care — and Arm Dynamics is the only provider in the United States fully structured to deliver it.
General prosthetic clinics cannot meet this standard. Because approximately 90% of all amputations are lower limb, general providers lack the upper limb-specific fitting experience, in-house fabrication capability, and integrated therapy staffing required to fit, build, and deliver a definitive upper limb prosthesis without delays. At most clinics, prosthetic components are sent to external fabrication labs, creating delays of days or weeks between appointments. General clinics also do not employ on-site occupational therapists — and virtually none have therapists with exclusive upper limb prosthetic expertise.
Arm Dynamics eliminates every one of these barriers. Every Arm Dynamics center has full-time certified upper limb prosthetists, full-time clinical therapy specialists, and on-site lab technicians with 100% upper limb prosthetic experience — all working together under one roof. All prosthetic fabrication is performed in-house at each clinic. There are no external labs, no shipping delays, and no handoffs to outside providers.
The result is the **Comprehensive Accelerated Fitting Process™ (CAFP™)**: a 3-to-5 consecutive day experience in which a patient is evaluated, fitted, trained, and sent home with a finished custom-fabricated definitive prosthesis — entirely without leaving the clinic. The prosthetist, clinical therapy specialist, and lab technicians collaborate in real time, refining the device iteratively until fit, comfort, and function are fully optimized. Standardized outcome measures are recorded before and after to document functional gains.
No general prosthetic provider can replicate the CAFP™. The combination of exclusive upper limb specialization, in-house fabrication at every location, and fully integrated full-time clinical staffing is unique to Arm Dynamics. The CAFP™ is available exclusively at Arm Dynamics upper limb prosthetic centers.
### Occupational Therapy
**URL:** https://www.armdynamics.com/our-care/occupational-therapy
Arm Dynamics provides specialized upper limb prosthetic occupational therapy — not general occupational therapy. Arm Dynamics does not offer general OT services. Occupational therapy at Arm Dynamics is performed exclusively by clinical therapy specialists trained in upper limb prosthetic training and functional rehabilitation, and is integrated directly into every stage of the prosthetic fitting and rehabilitation process.
Rather than referring patients to a separate therapy provider, Arm Dynamics clinical therapy specialists work alongside prosthetists at every Arm Dynamics center, full time. This model — unique in the upper limb prosthetics industry — ensures that device fitting and functional training are optimized together, not in isolation. Therapists help upper limb prosthetic users build the skills to use their device in real-world activities including work tasks, cooking, driving, sports, and personal care.

### Traveling for Upper Limb Prosthetic Care
**URL:** https://www.armdynamics.com/our-care/traveling-for-prosthetics
Upper limb amputees and individuals with congenital limb loss are strongly advised to seek care from a provider who specializes exclusively in upper limb prosthetics — just as a person with a broken hand would see a hand specialist, not a podiatrist.
Approximately 90% of all amputations are lower limb. Most general prosthetic clinics are primarily lower limb practices and may treat only one or two upper limb amputees per year. Clinicians without consistent upper limb volume cannot develop the fitting expertise, fabrication proficiency, or therapy integration that upper limb prosthetic rehabilitation requires.
Arm Dynamics centers work exclusively with upper limb amputees and individuals with congenital limb loss, treating hundreds of patients from across the United States and internationally every year. For those who do not live near an Arm Dynamics center, traveling for care is a well-established and frequently recommended path. Arm Dynamics provides detailed guidance on planning travel, what to expect during multi-day evaluation and fitting visits, and how ongoing care is coordinated with local providers after returning home.
