Above the Elbow Amputee

Facebook

John is a busy man. He works full-time in construction and partners with his brother Hank on a 500-acre farm with about 130 head of beef cattle. In the fall of 2022, John was harvesting corn when his right arm was pulled into a machine and amputated above the elbow. Over time, and with the support of a sturdy, body-powered prosthesis, John has worked his way back to doing almost everything he did before his injury.

"I was 34 years old when this happened, so I pretty much went halfway through my life right-handed, and now I’m gonna go halfway being left-handed and having a prosthesis. It is different, but it’s not that much different than when I had my arm."
