“In the months after being fit with my prosthesis, I had a lot of questions, obviously, along the way. When I would call Arm Dynamics, the information that they gave me was great and it helped out a lot. You know, a lot of companies now days, you don’t get that. You don’t get to call and talk to somebody.”

-John Mitchell, farmer, construction worker and Arm Dynamics patient since 2022

When you call one of our Arm Dynamics centers, your call won’t be answered by a chatbot, AI, or virtual assistant. It will be answered by one of our Center Patient Coordinators (CPCs): Shannon (pictured below) Cindy, Jennifer, Elvia or Shirley. They are there to set up initial patient appointments, schedule follow-up care, and make sure their respective centers are running smoothly.

Our CPCs get to know each patient, often well before they walk through the door. Shirley finds the long-term relationships with her patients rewarding. “It’s such a family-oriented place to work — our patients are not just patients — they become part of our Arm Dynamics family.”

So, let’s say you call with a question for your prosthetist. They may not be available at that exact moment if they’re providing care for another patient. After all, you wouldn’t want your in-person appointment interrupted, and the beauty of having a CPC is they can take a message and make sure that your prosthetist calls you back as soon as possible. Or, if the clinical therapy specialist is available and they can answer your question, you’ll be connected to them.

Our patient Eduardo Garcia, who lives in Montana and travels to our Portland, OR center:

“When people ask me where I go for my prosthetic care and why I go there, my answer is Arm Dynamics. The reason why is that I can call anytime and receive almost immediate connection and care with someone I have a deep relationship with. They know the shape of my forearm, they know my lifestyle, they know how to meet my needs with an overnight shipment of a funky little screw that my prosthesis needs – not even to my home, if I’m not there. And that’s unique, I think, in the care world, to have that type of a team, who is available, who wants to know how they can help me. And that goes beyond the technical aspects of updating a prosthesis and making it more durable. That’s something you expect from a top prosthetic care provider. I think what sets Arm Dynamics apart is they specialize in the exact part of the body that I need help with – and I can always pick up the phone and nearly any member of the team can help me with insurance, how I manage my work and my everyday life, how to use this tool. That’s unique and worth every hour I spend on a plane.”

It's about more than just providing prosthetic care for our patient. No person is an island, and most of our patients have families who, after an amputation, are in just as much shock as the patient. It’s often the patient’s spouse who’s coordinating appointments and providing caregiver duties. Our team speaks with many family members, and we are as supportive as possible to them as well. When we spoke with our patient Gerry Kinney's wife, Denice, about the first weeks following his bilateral arm amputations following a work accident, she told us about her chats with Gerry’s prosthetist-to-be, Julian. “I was on the phone with Julian and he said, ‘Denice, we will get Gerry back to life and he will be doing everything he did before. I can tell you he will be able to do everything.’ I had cried so many tears by then, but this was the first time I cried happy tears since Gerry’s accident.”

It's not just about being there, it’s also about listening to our patients. We must listen to them carefully and understand what their lifestyle is like, what their goals are, and what hesitations they may have. That kind of personalized conversation is how we determine the best prosthetic option for each person. We’re happy to hear that our patients appreciate our listening skills.

If you are not yet an Arm Dynamics patient, and you or someone you know would like to learn more about the holistic prosthetic care we offer, please contact us. Our goal is to set up our patients with a well-fitting, functional, pleasing-to-the-eye upper limb prosthesis that they know how to use, and then continue to provide lifetime follow-up care. Please let us know how we can help you.
